IC Character's Name: Jubilation Lee / Jubilee Codename: - Age: 26 Powers: [Slipstream's] Teleportation of self and others to any destination on Earth via a funnel of tide-like energy, or a 'warp wave'. That's the main description of Jubilee's power. Things that she is capable of as a result: Due to the nature of her powers, Jubilee doesn't actually have to know where she is going to teleport there (unlike say, Nightcrawler). By effectively opening up a wormhole in space, she can usually tell what is at the other end, this eliminating the chance of teleporting into a wall or something. Biography/History: Atticus and Jasmine Lee were both successful in their careers, but were always missing something in their personal lives. Upon hearing of IVF trial treatments in the UK, the couple, who now in their mid-thirties had been trying to conceive for years, uprooted their life in Hong Kong and immigrated to England in hopes of gaining a child through the miracle of science. After more than a year of being poked and prodded at Jasmine fell pregnant and gave birth to a daughter who the couple, in their joy, named Jubilation. Given her parents' hefty financial background, Jubilation (or Jubilee, by her friends) was able to live in style and comfort. Anything she wanted she could have - within reason. The Lees had years to perfect a system, and were fair parents, who might have occasionally doted, but never spoilt. So Jubilee grew up well-adjusted, but unlike her brainy parents, wasn't as much into academic pursuits. She was a tomboy, loved tumbling around in the great outdoors, and excelled at gymnastics, the one extra class she was willing to take outside of school. When she was 14, Jubilee and her parents were on their way to the airport for a family holiday. The last car in a pile-up on the highway, Jubilee, in the backseat managed to escape with a few scrapes, broken bones and a concussion while her parents were not as lucky. Jubilee was sent to live with her aunt and and cousin in Hong Kong. A natural optimist, she was able to put her parents' death behind her after some time and settled into her new life. She grew close to her extended family, and considered it home. Mutation was a quiet affair for Jubilee - it manifested rather sneakily during a holiday to Hawaii, when she was teaching herself to surf. Her aunt, surprised at first, was herself an intelligent, studied woman, and proved to be supportive, though the general consensus was that Jubilee should keep it quiet. At 16, playing the role of the rebellious teenager, Jubilee and her cousin Harold went on many misdirected adventures by way of her mutation, during which time she was able to figure out quite a bit about how it worked. Jubilee turned 18 the year she graduated high school. With no intention of going to university, and suddenly in possession of a large sum from her inheritance, as well as various investments still bringing in the cash thanks to Jasmine's fantastic knack for these sort of things, Jubilee decided to see the world. Traveling proved to be a time-consuming distraction, as when Jubilee finished her tour of the six continents (she dropped by Antarctica briefly but decided it was too cold) it was five years later. Driven by a subconscious desire to eventually settle down, Jubilee drew names out of a hat and made America a semi-permanent pit stop. She bought a property in Florida, and within six months found that the value of the house had risen almost 50 per cent. That happy accident made Jubilee realise that she had an eye for this sort of thing, not unlike her mother. Lacking in anything else to do, Jubilee forayed into the property development business with the considerable financial backing of the Lee family fortune. Now with its headquarters in New York City, her company has been running quite successfully for almost four years. Sometime during this, she made the acquaintance of Charles Xavier at a charity function and was taken with his vision. Jubilee was invited to join the X-Men after some correspondence, an offer which she gladly accepted. Personality: As a Gemini, Jubilee is probably best described by the word 'quick', in all senses. Intelligent but often not utilising that big brain of hers, she's prone to speaking without thinking, which in turn causes her to ramble as she seeks to remedy what she said earlier. She's naturally impatient, and gets bored quite easily, hence the random trinkets and multiple televisions around her home. She likes things done quickly, and while she can usually find things to occupy herself in the interim, if she is left waiting for too long she gets snappish. This is why she would never wait for a guy to call and always makes the first move herself. Generally tolerant, Jubilee is quick to anger but easy to placate, and never hold grudges. She's not particularly stubborn is and a firm believer of letting go if there is no end in sight. She does, however, enjoy competition and enjoy winning even more. Jubilee values her freedom above all else, and having pretty much gotten exactly what she wants all her life means that she's liable to be a little bratty. She does get along with people, though, and is really still a big kid. She walks fast, talks loud, is known for her snappy decisions, but subtlety is a foreign concept to her. Jubilee is haplessly fickle, does things on simple whims, and while she's getting better at it, she has a tendency to splurge. Strengths: strong-willed, outgoing and outspoken, humourous, active, independent, straight-forward, optimistic, generous Weaknesses: impatient, easily distracted, materialistic, fickle, has a brain but uses it too little, likely to jump into conclusions, lack of subtlety, talks too much, defensive, takes things for granted, fond of gossip Appearance: Jubilee is slightly shorter and skinnier than your average Asian, and has no bust to speak of. She's very fit, and stronger than she looks, from years of gymnastics and other sports. Traditionally she has had her hair cropped short but she began to let it grow out a couple of years back. It's usually left to its own devices or up in a ponytail. Dress style is casually fashionable. An emphasis on comfort - except for footwear. Jubilee loves heels and the fact that they add much needed inches to her height. Having gone through a brief punk phase in her youth, she's rather fond of the look and still has pieces in her wardrobe that reflect that. Although more of a masculine dresser, Jubilee really does love dressing up every once in a while in a fabulous dress and gorgeous jewelry. She has multiple piercings in each ear and a tattoo on the small of her back. PB: Li Bingbing Character Affiliation: X-Men |
